Having trained at Shoosmiths Jill qualified as a solicitor in September 2003 and is now in the clinical negligence department.
Jill works on a wide range of diverse cases across clinical negligence, including cases arising from late diagnosis, birth injuries affecting mothers and children and failures in elder care.
Jill has a particular interest in late diagnosis, surgical error and issues around disclosure of medical error.
Work Highlights
- the agreement of what we believe is the highest value periodical payments order ever made for a brain injured child;
- an admission of liability in a surgical error claim brought 9 years out of time - that had been turned down by previous solicitors acting under a legal expense insurance policy;
- supporting a bereaved family in preparation for the inquest into the death of a 32 year woman from cervical cancer which went undiagnosed on up to 30 separate occasions
Prior to joining Shoosmiths, Jill was a legal manager with Marks and Spencer and then the Virgin Group. Jill graduated with a 2:1 in Law prior to training as a solicitor and since qualifying graduated with Distinction from Queen Mary College, University of London in the LLM in Medical law and Ethics.
