Dom is a Paralegal in the Clinical Negligence Team.
Dom McGovern

He has experience in representing claimants in an extensive range of cases, including orthopaedic injuries, obstetrics and gynaecology, urological injuries, bowel injuries, cancer, nursing care and dental treatment. Dom adopts a genuine and empathetic approach to representing claimants, who have suffered severe injuries arising out of clinical negligence. He aims to support and guide claimants, keeping them informed of every stage of the claim.

Dom has been involved in representing a group of former patients of Mr Mian Munawar Shah, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, who were recalled by Walsall Manor Hospital following concerns over their treatment, causing permanent and life changing injuries.

Dom graduated with an upper second class (2:1) BA joint honours degree in American Studies & History from The University of Nottingham. He subsequently achieved a Distinction in The Graduate Diploma (GDL) in Law from Birmingham City University. Dom took a special interest in Tort Law, involving the law of negligence, and completed a thesis on the law concerning psychiatric injuries caused by alleged negligence. Cited case law included Paul v Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, a landmark case involving claims on behalf of secondary victims, in which Shoosmiths acted for the claimants who witnessed the shocking death of their father caused by alleged clinical negligence.

Outside of work, Dom enjoys keeping fit and healthy. He follows sports, including football, rugby, and cricket. Dom also enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes. He is a reader of various genres of books, particularly biographies of historical figures and literary fiction, such as the works of Fyodor Dostoevsky.
