Shoosmiths serious injury teams achieve highest Legal 500 rankings

30 September 2021

The Legal 500 is a highly respected directory resource designed to help in-house lawyers and legal teams find advisors through its rankings which are based on feedback from 300,000 respondents, independently assessed by Legal 500 researchers. The only way a law firm can achieve any sort of ranking in The Legal 500 is on merit.

Legal 500 award logoShoosmiths’ clinical negligence and personal injury teams across England are now all ranked Band 1 in the 2022 directory. Based in Birmingham, Nottingham, Northampton and Thames Valley, and with more than 50 specialist legal advisers exclusively representing injured clients right across the country, the team has a strong reputation for ground-breaking and cutting-edge work on high value, complex claims. We are identified as ‘industry leaders in client care’, with clients praising our ‘reliability, honesty and top-of-the-market expertise.’

The ‘very impressive’ Phil Barnes, head of the serious injury team and himself listed as a ‘Leading Individual’ by The Legal 500, said:

“I am thrilled that the level and quality of work we do for clients has been recognised by The Legal 500. This is fantastic news for our dedicated teams of specialists, who go from strength to strength.”

He went on to say:

“I’d like to thank those of our clients and peers who were involved in The Legal 500’s research process for their support.”

Other Shoosmiths practice areas which work closely with the serious injury teams, including Court of Protection, family, education, contentious trusts and probate and charities and not for profit all retained their existing rankings.

David Parton, head of the firm’s personal advisory division, commented:

“It’s really pleasing to see the personal injury and clinical negligence teams receiving the recognition they deserve. This is a great set of results across the board and shows the high regard our professional peers and clients have for all our personal advisory teams."

A selection of those comments about Shoosmiths clinical negligence and personal injury teams from The Legal 500’s 2022 directory included:

“Shoosmiths stand out for their reliability, honesty and top-of-the-market expertise. Before appointing lawyers, I researched the market very carefully, took advice from lawyer friends and interviewed a number of companies, including those that have a high profile in this area of law. None of the others came close to Shoosmiths.”

“There is no question that they are industry leaders in client care. They are all so personable and ooze knowledge that they inspire the utmost confidence in clients from the start.”

“Shoosmiths' first-rate clinical negligence practice…is a first port of call for catastrophically-injured clients from throughout England and Wales. The firm has an outstanding track record in high-value and ground-breaking claims.”

“An efficient and well-run personal injury and clinical negligence department. Reasonable in terms of fees for superb service, with the client’s interest closely monitored at all times.”
