Shoosmiths adds senior expert to serious injury team

18 March 2024

Shoosmiths’ Serious Injury team has added significant weight to its capabilities with the hire of medical negligence expert Louise Tyler.

Louise, who joins the firm as a Legal Director, has built a reputation for excellence during her 30-year career delivering what matters to clients. Louise is well known for representing children with birth injury claims, where she has recovered awards, which will assist them and their families in securing appropriate support the rest of their lives. Louise also holds significant experience in representing clients at inquests and in dealing with claims involving delayed diagnosis.

Louise joins us from Wilson Browne Solicitors, where she was head of the medical negligence team. We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the contributions she will make to our team and to our clients. Joining Louise in the move to Shoosmiths is her colleague Gemma Pabari, an associate with five years’ medical negligence experience.

Phil Barnes, head of Shoosmiths’ serious injury team, said: “We’re pleased to have Louise and her colleague Gemma joining the firm, adding to our team which is nationally recognised in helping individuals and their families with the complex legal problems resulting from serious injuries and medical negligence.

“Louise brings great experience having devoted her career to helping clients obtain not only the best treatment and rehabilitation, but also the financial security they need to rebuild their lives.

She will bring additional strength to the team, working closely with our long-standing medical negligence partner Andrea Rusbridge.”

Andrea Rusbridge, serious injury partner, said: “I have known Louise for many years, and I am so pleased she has decided to join us. Louise will bring many skills as well as additional strength and depth to the team. I have huge respect for her experience and knowledge.”

Louise added: “Shoosmiths Serious Injury team has a reputation as a leading firm in the UK for achieving results for clients in complex serious injury and medical negligence issues. I am very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues and continuing to support our clients in moving forward in their lives.”

Louise is a member of the Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel and the AvMA (Action against Medical Accidents) Panel, and a former Secretary of the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers (SCIL). Her membership of the specialist panels recognises her experience and confirms her expertise in representing clients with clinical negligence claims.
