Brain and spinal cord injuries
I specialise in catastrophic brain and spinal cord injuries as a result of Road Traffic Accidents and Accidents at Work. As a personal injury lawyer my role is multifaceted and includes supporting my clients in the early stages of their injury, making sure that they get the right rehabilitation to maximise their recovery and sourcing the right expert who can recommend the appropriate aids and equipment to improve their quality of life. I provide the moral and psychological support during their transition to a new life, sometimes with disabilities, that they need to come to terms with so that they can look forward to a new life, purpose and future.
The majority of my work comes from referrals from existing clients or professionals who I have worked with in the past. I work hard to build relationships and trust with my client, their family and the rehab team and take pride in being available to my clients to support them through the different milestones of recovery and independence, and then through the litigation process.
I believe that I have a reputation with insurers as a serious, no-nonsense lawyer who will engage in dialogue at an early stage to make sure that they understand my client’s injuries and needs so that the right support and rehabilitation is there to meet their needs.
Due to their brain injuries, many of my clients lack capacity under the Mental Health Act 2005, they are vulnerable individuals who need the protection of the court. I work very closely with our Court of Protection team to make sure that my clients have the right professional support.
Accidents that result in the death of a loved one
I represent families who have lost loved ones due the fault of another, mainly as a result of a road traffic accident or accidents at work. I have acted for widows/widowers with young children and also those were children have grown up and moved away. I have acted for families where the deceased was the main carer for a disabled partner or child. I am there to represent the family at the inquest to ensure that they have a voice. It's important they understand the litigation process and that they trust their solicitor.
I have conducted a number of matters where the accident has resulted in my client losing a limb. This is a very traumatic event and it often takes years for the client to come to terms with their disability.
My objective is to ensure that my client has the right medical support and equipment to maximise their quality of life and independence.
